Study of Parliament Group Annual Weekend 2025

We are holding our Annual Weekend at the Cohen Quad, Exeter College, Oxford on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th January.

This year we have panels reflecting on 25 years of law making in the devolved legislatures as well as reimagining the UK Parliament in terms of procedures, spaces and public engagement. We will also commemorate 40 years of the National Audit Act 1983 with a panel on Parliament and the National Audit Office. With House of Lords reform back on the political and legislative agenda we will also be reflecting on how the House of Lords operates at present and proposals for change. The 2024 Parliament kicked off in July of last year and we will hear from new Labour MP, Leigh Ingham on her first 6 months in office. Our annual weekend will draw to a close with an in conversation session with Greg Power of Global Partners Governance, on his new book Inside the Political Mind, which draws upon his experience of working with hundreds of politicians in more than sixty countries.

During the course of each year’s annual weekend, we hold the Wheeler-Booth Memorial Lecture. This year’s lecture will be delivered by Dame Elizabeth Gardiner DCB, former First Parliamentary Counsel.
